Hi all,
Could someone tell me which studio (not live) song is a good example of Hendrix's Ge fuzz face sound? Also, a good example of the silicon fuzzface sound? I would really love to compare both, side by side, but I want to be sure which fuzz face is which (rather than guessing, I thought it would be wise to ask here)
I hope all had a great xmas.
Take car,
Cheers,
Luke

Hello Hello--
    Errrmmmm......for germanium, I guess anything off the first album  [Are You Experienced?]......."Purple Haze", "Foxey Lady",  etc.
  The "silicon years"  started in 1968, so it's all over the second album.
Also, Hendrix was using the Roger Mayer "Axis Fuzz" circuit at that time, too......."Axis, Bold As Love", etc.    Actually, a good example of this is "Machine Gun" from the  Band of Gypsy album.

GE= Warm, less fuzzy
SI = More Fuzzy/Harsh sounding.  i use MPSA18 SI Transistors for almost everything....

Do yourself a favor and listen to the sound clips of the '69 and the '70 from the Fulltone site.  Very good examples of Hendrix tunes - although he uses a Ge where Jimi uses Si, and vice versa... but you'll get a good example of the tone.
