Other options to Zvex Fuzz Factory

I used to have one but sold it because i needed money. Now the style of music i play really relies on something like that.

I DO have enough money to actaully go out and buy another one, but I want to consider some other options as well.

are there any other insane distortion/ fuzz pedals that i could buy or build myself?
it has to be able to cut through the mix as well. There were a few setting on the FF i remember that if you had those on and you rolled back on the guitar volume a little, it was very powerful and could cut through very well (without losing it's craziness).

I don't want to use it as only a 'special  effect'. I just like the guitar in my band to have a unique, slightly "off-beat" and far out sound. are there any reccomendations for this?

Happy Holidays everyone!
and thank you so much for any help with this  :D

zvex is a friend of mine. so i'll just say this,  www.commonsound.com  , go to kits and look for the "noise swash".  z  is a cool man and offers great pedals.

Don't forget the parallel universe:

You might want to change the 100k resistor to a lower value.

Build something from Joe Gagan, those are whacky fuzzes he's got .
Also there's a circuit similar to the Fuzz Factory on the net somewhere that ZVex himself said wasn't right so there's no problem with using that but it'll get you close.
Do a search, somebody posted it a while back.
Take care

all the zvex pedals are insane, and im gathering your saying you need a distortion box thats out of the ordinary. i reckon fuzz factory for sure, but if you feel the need for variety give the Univox Superfuzz a go.

I am NOT looking for one, saw one anyway, there's no way it could work though...

Didn't Joe Gagan's "Skyripper" have a bunch of features that permitted some unusual sounds and attack envelopes?

I'll vote for the Noise Swash if you don't want to buy a Fuzz Factory.

It's not really a 'replacement' for a Zvex, but it's pretty wacky and insane.
Build a swash AND buy a Factory - best of both worlds!
