Tychobrahe Transistors

Hi all,
I am myself prepared to making a Tychobrahe when my parts arrive, but i realised that I dont have a MPSA18 for Q1. Is there anything I can use as a replacement? (I have the 2N3906's for Q2&3, just not Q 1)

I just finished building this and used a 2N5087  for the PNP and two 5089s for the NPNs. I used sockets so I could try different types, but I am pretty happy with these for now. I was planning on trying a low gain Ge for Q1, maybe next time I change the battery.

I forgot about that schematic- I was going off a different one. I think I will use the same as you- and try out the generic npn and pnp transistors.

I used the schematic at generalguitargadgets and made my own hare-brained perf layout.
