3 part newbie question (sorry!)

Last night I had all the parts and layout and everything for JD Sleeps Sonic Distortion. Well, everything was going okay, when I noticed a couple of things. I had ordered some of the wrong value of resistors (I had didn't have the 2M2 resistors). I went to Radio Shack and picked up some 2M2 resistors, but they only have 1/2 watt, not 1/4 watt. Does this make a difference?

Next, I jacked up the 220 pF cap, I soldered it into the wrong place and cut the wire. Rather than solder a lead, I would rather use another part. I went to Radio Shack on this one, and they didn't have a 220 pF, but the guy working there said that a .22 uF is the same. Is it? I don't know about the measurements of these things, and the .22 uF cap is polyester film whereas the other cap I got from Small Bear and is brown and lumpy (don't know the technical name for it). Should I order another?

Last thing (I promise!). I am thinking about making a box for this stuff. I have a drill and some bits, but is there something that I should know (besides eye/nose protection)? I have access to a wood shop that has drill bits, so do I need to purchase a special bit (for both the DC jack and pots)? Is there a link or website that has some sort of tutorial for this?

Sorry for the bothersome questions!

... RS resistors, but they only have 1/2 watt, not 1/4 watt
ckt 'sees' them as identical [assuming the R value is] as long as they're at least 1/4 for most all you needs you'll be fine...1/2w is fine but you'll notice they  take more space cause they're bigger...
I would get a varibit [someone said the less exp 'Vermont' brand lasts]
as it will do most all your hole sizes the easiest.

Got it, resistors are in. Space wasn't too much of a problem, the board is spaced pretty well. What about the caps question? Are the values matching up? I'll look for some drill bits when I'm down in Anchorage (tomorrow), I have to be there for a week.

About the caps... .22 uf = 220 nF = 220,000 pf

so .22 uf will not work.

Paul Perry (Frostwave)

That 220pf.... 200pf would be close enough, whihc you can make from a pair of 100pf in parallel (that is, you soler in one cap, then another to exactly the same place). The main thing is, you have learnt that the staff at RS know nothing! The 100pf cap might be marked "101".

Well, one thing about Radio Shack is that when you ask a stupid question, chances are the answer will be even stupider! I have 2 of them in town, and I go to either and get different answers to the same questions all the time, which is confusing as hell to me since I have very limited knowledge about this anyway! They did have the 100 pF caps, so I'll just get those and wire them in parallel (don't know why I didn't think of that). Thanks!!

Sorry if my confusion is confusing things...
Look at Eliktronic's post again to be sure you're getting the right conversion value.
