I've been looking all over for an easy to build speaker sim  So if you happen to get one that's light on componant use, could you send it on to me thanks.


PS the only speaker sim that I know about is a part of the Craig Anderton Stack in a box.  If you were clever and could find the schematic you could probably cut it out and use it on its own.  (i'm not sure that that's that mcuh help)

I used to use my cabinet simulator (Marshall sim) and it worked ok - pretty good for jazzy things and who knows, it might even help live to a PA.

However, the main use was for having a better recording tone and now with the advent of guitar amp simulator plug-ins, most of them do a better job than the usual analog simulators that we can whip together.

One other solution is a Weber MASS attenuator on your amp and a microphone like an SM57. This will give you options, although it can still be loud.

One aspect of an analog simulator that is useful is that it IS direct sounding and that for certain types of heavy music, it can come in handy.

Couldn't you just put a reverb effect between the cabsim & soundcard? :? Or maybe even a software reverb in extreme cases.

if you want something that sounds killer (indistinguishable from a miked amp) check Behringer Ultra-G (yeah it is not a diy but does not cost more than a diy and sounds incredible so i decided to post).
