Schematic program?

Does anyone know of a good schematic program for pc that will let me look at the circut with a voltmeter and stuff? I am trying to understand what goes on in a circut and would also like to experiment with this program. Preferably free , but if anyone knows of a good program that isnt too expensive and worth buying, i would also be interested... This would help me out a lot! Thanks!

i don't know much about such things, but i believe that SPICE is free and lets you do such things.  i do not think it is easy to use though, even if you do get it to work.

cool! There seems to be many varieties though... could you reccomend one or possibly post a link to a good download site for it?
