Maybe a stupid question, it's up to you guys to figure out what I'm trying to know.

Is there something variable to measure in a pickup that would determine the best value of pots for volume and tone? My setup is humbucker-single-humbucker that has three individual toggle switch and 1 volume and 1 tone knob, both at 50k. I haven't figure out the wiring yet but I know you may already have an idea.

Thanks
Oh yeah!

50K is way too low...you didn't say what kind of humbuckers you have but if they're standard PAF type then 500K is the normal value, and if they're really high output then 1 meg is cool there, so you get the maximum highs out of it...

For tone control 250K is standard, and you can experiment with tone control cap values, usually between .01-.1...personally I don't use tone controls on guitars so if you don't either you can disconnect it altogether and you'll get better fidelity and highs in your sound, like taking a blanket off the front of your amp with some guitars such as stock Gibsons...

The old blanket :) I have the same problem because most of my boss pedals suck tone like a thirsty baby. I use an EH-2 enhancer for this :D
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

Thanks Ammscray  . I'll replace them as soon as I can.

My pickups are cheap passive pickups, not so special like those extra high output from the likes of Seymor Duncan or EMG.

You could mod your guitar and build an LPB in it with an on/off switch :D

Ha ha :P  You were able to say what I was thinking.

Once I get my supply of DPDT / SPDT switches, I'll definately have an LPB1 in my guitar! :D Maybe a bass boost too :D

Hi Smoguz..

Are you sure about this? Almost al  Boss pedals have buffers in them to prevent tone sucking (not sure about the DD-2).

Groet,

Yeah I was surprised too. the DD-2 is the biggest tone sucker but the BF-2 comes a close second. Metalzones take a little bit of warmth out and I haven't noticed any problems with the OC-2 yet.

Time for an envelope filter!
