I just got the latest Electronics Goldmine catalog - they have 2N128 JAN transistors, 2 for a dollar.  They say these are Military grade PNP Germanium transistors - would these be good for germanium fuzzes?

If the statistics hold from the time I was sifting germanium transistors, about one in three would be in the OK range.

However, if they really are MIL spec (very strange, as MIL spec parts tend to be entirely USA stuff from that era) they may be closer.

In any case, you pays your money and you takes your chances.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

There was mil spec in the UK too.

Infact that's why LCD displays where designed, simply because RCA where charging the British army too much for mil spec CRT's.

Therefore work started on LCD displays.

Interestingly all cell walls (in living creatures not prisons) contain liquid crystals, with carrots being the easiest to extract from (a really useless fact).
