well, i had to try it....at first, I did it with a fresh 9v, but I couldn't hold it long enough for my meter to set.

so with a battery reading at 7v, i got about 5 mA pumpin', giving my tounge a resistance of 14kohm!

Uhhhh, you've got tooooo much time on yer hands to come up with that one.
Buuut I do have one for ya. Put some viniger in that mouth of yours and measure the voltage. I'm thinking it should be around 4-7mA.

My DMM says between 900k and 1meg.  What's up with your tongue?!

Hey! Maybe tongues have a voltage-dependent resistance??  Any circuits that could be useful in??  This gives a whole new meaning to "playing licks".

5mA?

It just so happens that if you get 5mA across your heart, that's enough to send you into cardiac arrest.

As humorous as it may be, I really think testing your tongue for current handling is a bad idea. I say the same thing to people to cut themselves with razors.

It's not your tongue conducting anyway.... it's the salt in your saliva. Try testing spit instead.

Iteresting. You can still measure resistance without that much current with your DMM. I'm just curious about how much voltage a mouth can produce in it without batteries. The acid in viniger can produce electrical energy. Some people after a meal have produced enough in there mouths to feel it with there fillings. You could also us pickle juice.

:? I have tasted it few times and not much like it... Yees!!! I have few innocent kids in my neighbourhood, I can do the "test" with them!     Well, it is educative, it is

You can stick probes in a grapefruit and it's a [very small] battery...saw that on a PBS science show
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

  8) Just remebered. Nine volt is for kids. I have tasted some effects that have two nine volters in series. Gives some kick in the ass, I mean the attack section is improved *very* noticeably, and adds quite well much more bite, to my taste.

Actually you can test two batteries in series, just snap two batteries one male and female contact together. You have to  do some tongue twistin to taste because terminals are not so ergonomically situated, but gives bigger and wider surface area what takes the information, so the nuances can be felt better...

You can also do the small battery thing with potattos, apples, lemons, etc...
I'm not to trusting on the snapping of (2) 9 volts together. It gets hot quick with the ptential to explode.

Right. I'm going to just use my DMM and see.... 1.9M :) hey that's more than I expected

wow I gotta remeasure mine...it seemed kinda low, but now im sure it is.

or maybe Brett was right, and tounges do have voltage dependent resistance...

It is quite obvious with all these wacky topics and posts(including mine) that somebody needs to go over to Steve's cave and help him fill & ship some orders(including mine) so we can get back to building some effects!

My tongue by the way is resistant to unwashed Big Muff Pie!! Yuk!! You couldn't measure that resistance with a ten foot pole, much less a DMM!

So There!
