Monolithic caps

In the articles on the audible effects of having different types of capacitors in the signal chain, I have yet to find any mention of monolithic ceramics.

The type of ceramic caps they refer to is the cheap disc, which, predictably, are found to color the sound more than any other type.

Anyone have any experience with using these in non-distortion box processors? My understanding of them is that they use similar materials but are constructed differently.

The only difference I've ever seen or heard was pretty obvious: I was modding a Dunlop JH-2 and couldn't get rid of an oscillation until I swapped my usual mylar output cap for a monolithic of the same value.

As far as size goes, they win the minaturization race.

the ceramic momo is inended for bypassing power lines, not for coupling. The real value may be 50% lower or 100% higher than the lable, plus they are nonlinear with voltage, vary sharply with temperature as well.
The ceramic disk type is a much better behaved beast. Why use monos at all? well they ARE good at bypassing!
