mxr+ pop

Hello,

  Maybe someone can help me with this.I just put a3pdt switch in a mxr distortion+.it sounds great but really pops now .I read i could solve this by putting pull-down resistors on the front and end of the circuit ,then to ground,but  nobody was really clear on the placement.I'm a beginner at this obviously,so if anyone could give me a clear and simple answer that would be great. Thanks much.
