fuzz face noise

I'm new to building effects and i'm having problems with my fuzz face, when i turn the fuzz knob all the way up i get oscillation, Ive been told to do either of to things.

Put a 100ohm resistor in series with the fuzz pot
or
change the 33k and 8k2 for 50k and 10k trimpots.

trimpots have three legs so how would i connect one

If they're being used as a pot, then it's obvious. If it's being used as a series resistor, you connect only the taper and one side

taper and one side = middle lug and one of the outside lugs (doesn't matter which one)
