I printed R.G.'s sequenced wah article a couple of years ago and it's been lying around my workbench as a possible project ever since.
Obligatory link to the article:http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/udrand.htm

It seems to me, after all this time to ponder it (and triggered by the McMeat project), that you could build the sequencer in a 1590B box (ala Zvex Ooh Wah) and attach it to the McMeat (or any effect with an expression pedal) and Whammo - Instant sequenced-<your effect here>!

Any chance of getting a 4-6-8 switch in that article R.G.?

The Tone God

That suggestion is made at the end of the "Vanishing Point" article. Take the VP logic and using the information from the "Rock N' Control" article to interface the logic to another effect.

The way I see it the 4-6-8 switch can be done a few different ways. The counter 40193 has a reset pin that could be used to limit the count range. When to trigger that pin is the tough part.

You can try to decode the counter's outputs to trigger a pulse to the reset pin using a few gates. A more hack way is to disconnet the switch pole next to the switch you want to end at, connect the switch to a gate to make a pulse, then feed the pulse to the reset pin.

I hope this gives you some ideas.
