I found something I don't really what it is... I suspect that it is a diode of some kind, it has the same glass package as those small signal diodes but it has only one stripe on the middle...

Cheers!

Maybe its a zener diode, I have a couple, I may be wrong, but it was worth a guess :)
P.S In the usa how much are pots with a dpdt switch? (push-pull style) EDIT; Has anyone seen them in the U.K for cheaper than £10? ( GEZ, Snoo, im lookin' at you guys ;) )

I don't believe it's a zener, the stripe doesn't indicate polarity, it's on the midle of the thing

Can't you post a pic, it would make things a lot easier.
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

sometimes 0 ohm resistors (used as jumpers, basically) have a single black stripe.

I have seen SMD capacitors, put into a glass package, just like diodes. They are on an old broken coaxial network card.
There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

are these slightly larger than 1N914 diode, but uniform colour, sort of a gold, single band in the middle ... then definitely sounds like DIAC, used in things like dimmers in conjunction w/ TRIACS ... bought some to repair some dimmers, never got a round to it, too many other things to do ;-)
Denis,
Nothing witty yet ...
