Can anyone tell me of the 51pf cap (im using 56pf btw) is in the signal path or not in tonepads TS??. I cant find any other cap this value other than ceramic right now. If I know it isnt in the signal path anyway then ill go ahead and put in. thanx :0)))

Peter Snowberg

Go ahead and use it. :D

That cap is only to remove ultrasonic content and 56pF is more than close enough. You will never hear a difference. 56 might even be better. The tolerance on those caps is probably +/- 20% so a cap marked 51pF might be anywhere from 40pF to 60pF anyway.

Hi,

i build one circuit with 100p Cap and two anti parallel 1N4004 Diodes.
Works very good and gives a very rough Sound, not so Sweet, sounds
more crunchy.
I think you can go to 200p Cap (put it on a socket and try out)

Rock ON!

thanx guys! ill do that. However, im still wondering if it is actually in the signal path or not? thanx again :0)

Yes and no. :D

It's in the feedback loop of the opamp so in a sense it's in the anti-path. Whatever makes it through the cap gets subtracted from the signal coming out of the opamp. I guess strictly speaking it's not in the direct path, but it's still in a direct path when you consider the opamp has two inputs.

I guess it's true to say that it's not in the AUDIO path, since it is effectively open-circuit to audio frequencies. It is in the signal path for RF noise and effectively shorts out the latter, which is its purpose.

It's funny but most 47pF ceramics I have measured with a LCR meter are in fact 51pF capacitors
