I apologise to everyone including eaze for any offence made by my remarks in a previous thread (about copyright on an old Japanese book).

I (and I feel a number of people) was getting tired of endless argy-bargy over what can or cannot be published (4 pages and another thread about colin's book - come on!) .

I was making a play on the name of a japanese site that was more intended to express my feelings rather than offend any culture (let's face it somebody previously posted the link to www.engrish.com on this forum and I don't recall anyone complaining ...), but if anyone from Japan was offended please accept my apologies.

Can I suggest in future if anyone wants to upload scans of potentially copyrighted material that they clear it with the moderators first?

Then there might be a little more light and a little less heat in future ...

Thank you George. Apology accepted and appreciated.

You always have the option to not contribute to a given thread. There are so many to choose from. If you're not into a particular discussion, go to the next one or start a new one.

You did ask the question "what are you going to do about it?" Well, you found out. ;)

I have a lot of respect for anybody who makes the effort to learn a new language that is built with different phonemes and a totally different architecture, and even more when they try to convey concepts that involve respect using that new language.

This forum is largely unmoderated. I wish it could stay that way. Unfortunately it seems that some degree of active moderation is becoming necessary. If people would just respect each other, no moderation would be necessary. Who wants to have a conversation in a room where everything is constantly checked for "correctness"? I know I don't.

RESPECT.
