Hi,

I'm posting to ask for help regarding my old phase 90. I just put in a
carling 316 switch and I'm having some trouble. First of all, the pedal is
working somewhat, but it sounds muddier than before, and it has more of a volume drop when turned on. Also, the effect only works if I plug my guitar directly into the input of the phase 90. If I have it down the line in a chain of stompboxes, the effect doesn't seem to turn on. I can't hear the phasing whatsoever. Any suggestions? I'm obviously a novice at this stuff!!! Thanks. Your help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Is there anyone here who will help me figure out how to get my old phaser working? As I said in my previous post; my phase 90 only works if i plug my guitar directly in to its input. If I put it say after a wah, or compressor, etc, in a chain of pedals, it doesn't work. All of the cables are functioning properly. Is there a wiring problem? I will really appreciate any advice . Thanks in advance!

keep in mind i am a novice as well. were you carefull not to screw with the trim pot while installing your switch?did you check the battery(its always the simple things i overlook)what kind of switch did you install dpdt or a 3pdt? this site has a simple layout that shows clearly how to hook up a dpdt.(youll have to copy and paste past ive not figured out how to post links yet)

theres a good easy to follow 3pdt layout in the beginers project page on this site.its sticky post #4 switches bypass etc....

Thanks. I've checked the stuff many times, but I'm sure I've overlooked
something. It's weird that the effect works when in front of all my other stomp boxes, but not after them. I appreciate your response.

If you installed the switch correctly, there should be no noticable difference in the sound of your pedal.  All the switch does is send the signal to the circuit or bypass it.  Check your soldering/wiring.  Then double check it.  Make sure you dont have any solder bridging.  When you installed the new switch, did you mess with the circuit at all?  Did you possibly touch the circuit board with the soldering iron by accident?  These are all things to check out.  If your switch is wired correctly (and be absolutely sure about this before you do anything else!) then check your circuit with a DMM.  It possible that the circuit has a component that crapped out and it just coincided (sp?) with the switch change.
Life is like a box of chocolates.  You give it to your girlfriend and she eats up the best pieces and throws the rest away.

Do you do your wiring like this?

Because if you did it like this it would definitely work.
