Ok, just tried building a tubescreamer from GGG, and I'm having some troubles.  When I put in a battery, the led switches on and off regardless of whether or not there is a cable inserted for input.  I bought the jacks from small bear and followed the diagramn for the connections (I also bent these in, but they aren't touching the cable when it's inserted).  Secondly, when i tried the pedal, it sounded like it was gating (nothing, then crap when I turned the level up, but still barely audible).  Could this be incorrect jack or battery wiring (I wasn't too sure if I made the right connections, but the LED switched on, pedal bypasses correctly, and kinda works)?  Any suggestions?  Any help is appreciated.
Oh yeah, I forgot.  How do you guys make the pcb fit in the 1590BB?  My jacks are in the way and it's too cramped to put in (though I did use a lot of film caps and such).

More than likely, you have the tip & ring conections backward. The tip is the tab that attaches to the jack furthest in towards where the plug goes in, next is the ring(where you should attach the battery's ground), & finally the circuit ground.

Checked the jacks, and they seem to be fine.  I'm going to look over my pedal again for debugging...Is it possible I wired the DC jack incorrectly?  How can the LED turn off and on without a cable in the jack?  I thought if I wired the battery backwards, it would have not worked at all...Any thoughts anybody?  I'm going to take a look at RG's biasing debugging in the near future...
