do u need wire for a breadboard to work?

meaning, well, if you just buy a solderless breadboard w/o hookup wire, how does it work??

The breadboard already has "traces" built in. Columns and rows are already "pre-wired".

However, on occasion, you will need jumpers and these are sold separately in little kits. Sometimes jumpers come with the breadboard.

Yeah.  Usually it's good to have some solid core wire.  20 to 24 guage Telephone cable wire works well for jumpers.  It's rare that I'm able to connect everything absolutely through the circuit components.  I usually have to use more than one breadboard trace per node for some things.

I've been using the longest jumpers to solder directly to the pots etc... It works.
