hey all, does anyone know a schematic for a pocket amp that uses a regular 741 opamp?

The best you can do with an opamp is a headphone amp. Here is a site where you can find info on opamp headphone amps and such.

If you want a headphone amp, I say use an LM386 or JRC386 ;)
I don't like Holland. Nobody has the transistors I want.

An LM386 is a lot quieter than a 741 is. You would probably be happier using an audio amplifier type chip, unless noise doesn't bother you...

Actually for a headphone amp they(the chaps @ Headwize) recommend the Burr/Brown OAs for them; low noise, wide freq. response.

As for a 741, build a Dist+!
