Rat Knobs

The most basic problem I've come across in my attempts at DIY electronics...

How do I get the knobs off a Rat II?  

I tried pulling at them but there's only so hard you can pull before you think you're going to break something. Sorry about the really lame question on a Monday morning but I figure a few people here will have opened up a rat, may have come across the same problem.

Long ago I invested in a "knob puller" from Stew Mac.  It's made life so much easier over the years.

Highly recommended if you're working on guitars or pedals much.
