im building a Dist+ clone and the gain control calls for a 1M anti log pot.
i dont have 1 so im jjust goin for a switchable gain boost, (usin a DPDT)
i was going to have a 1M resistor on 1 side and a short on the other but it was too extreme, any ideas for values?

no ideas for values.. but you could always switch in parallel resistance instead of having both extremes.

A reverse log pot isn't really necessary, a 1M pot isn't necessary either.  The smaller the resistance gets - the higher the gain level, so unless you want to run the pedal very clean,  there's no point in using a pot that big.

I've used 100K linears in my builds and they work great.

Jim is absolutely correct.  The pot is used for *reducing* gain from some maximum.  A 1meg pot drops gain down to a little over 2.  A 100k pot  drops it down to a little over 11.  A gain of 11 won't be pristine, but it won't be splatter-fuzz either.

so they finally named it

1 meg gain and output controls  dime them both and turn them back between 9 and 10 ie max and almost max
