This is they grey one..can this be easily converted to a ts-808 without much of a problem? Im thinking about buying it if thats the case--they want 169.00 for a ts-808 reissue--whatever!!

Hmmm....

$39.99 + $0.04 = $169.00?

Must be new math. :D

They are very similar.  You'd hardly be bothered changing it.  My TS-7 had a non-JRC chip in it.  But it sounded better with an NE5532 anyway.  The "hot" switch on the TS-7 is handy for bedroom heavy rock.

It's basically a TS-9 with a boost switch. It can be modded just like one.

i have two of them, unfortunately the switches arent very good.  both of mine need to be kicked pretty hard to turn on.

they are not easy to rehouse either, because there are 5 pcbs in them and everything is pcb mounted.

component wise they are so close to the 808... most of them have the 4558 chip in them... both of mine do.

i used to gig with the two i had.  they were great.  one was set as a boost, with low gain, and one was set with the gain all the way up.  turn them both on for an awesoem lead tone
