Hi guys,

I heard a few time of some kind of electronic components "wash" or cleaning solvent or something in the area, so... how
DO YOU clean old ugly, corrosion infected, rusty FX and the such...?

I use an old toothbrush with denatured alcohol, water, and/or xylene/acetone in multiple steps. Alcohol is semi polar, water is polar, and xylene/acetone are non-polar. Between these solvents and some heavy scrubbing you can wash most gunk away and not leave solvent residue. I would avoid using any solvent that contains oils as they will leave residue and stop the alcohol or water from being used after.

Good luck,

In my experiences, a room mates toothbrush is way better.

Alcohol, for prototypes.

for the boards I want to look good and that I know I won't have to touch again.
