Hello! i'am posting from Argentina for first time in this forum. I apologize for my English, but i'll try you can understand me.
I'am building a MXR Noise Gate from Tonepad and the effects is not working. Nothing happens wen the true-bypass is switched on. I made de PCB transfering exactly the Tonepad PDF, testing the conductivity of the traces and everything seems OK. My circuit uses the right components, excepting the 2N5952 FET (replaced by 2N5956 FET), inverting the pinout, of course. Changing the RC4558 IC by another one, the noise gate not works. Only the same sound as the bypass switch is open. Can anybody help me? The cap's and resistor have the correct value. I tried seeking shortcuts, interrupted traces or failed solders but, nothing ..... everything seems all right but the function of noise gate is not present....
Thank you all for any help vou can lend me ....

Regards

Hi Hammer, how are the beautiful women in BA? I miss Bife Chorizo con papas fritas in La Palacia de las Papas Fritas! Now - what IC are you using instead of the RC4558? Where do you buy components in BA? We are visiting Argentina next year and will stay near Belgrano R for a few days then travel to Bariloche, Mar del Plata and maybe other places.

Audio probe... debug with this one and it will help you. Click on the debugging page above and look for it.
Oh yeah!

Hi Stephen!!!! i whish you a nice journey in Argentina!!! Take care against robery when you arrive here!!!!! (the tourists are the favorite victims in  cities or taxis).
So, the IC i used to replace is the same type: RC4558, suspecting the damage or failure of the first one. But doesn't work. I think to replace the FET by another type, but i'am not sure wath difference it can make.
I thank you so much any advice or suggestion you can send me.

Hi zener and thank you for the info ... i'll try whith the audio probe, but i think it's very difficult the failure detection in this particular issue, because the audio signal passes throug  the circuit whitout problems as no effect present betwen the instrument and the amp ¿?... Thank you for the advice anyway .....
