A happy May Day to y'all. How many were out morris dancing at dawn I wonder? I played guitar at dawn on May 1 for about 4 years running in the 80s - a real killer because it meant getting up at 4am and driving accross London to Croydon. Good fun though - bloody good tunes:

Some like a girl who is pretty in the face
And some like a girl who is slender in the waist
But give me a girl who will wriggle and will twist
At the bottom of her belly is the cuckoo's nest. - typical traditional May English folk song!
"I want my meat burned, like St Joan. Bring me pickles and vicious mustards to pierce the tongue like Cardigan's Lancers.".

Hmm pardon my ignorance, but never heard of may day... like april fools but with songs instead of tricks?

Ciao.

MayDay is usually when countries show off their WMD.

Well, you havn't got English folk traditions have you - nor have we many left, you are more likely to see a ****ing steel band in London.

Quite real sounding, good to hear some street news from merry old England !!!

May Day used to be a socialist celebration (but, it was a pagan festival before that). Here in Victoria Australia, a conservative government some years ago created "moomba", a celebration of capatalism & mindless hedonism, to replace it (I'm not making this up).
But since we are in the southern hemisphere, we're actually moving into winter, so it is hardly the right time for festivity!
But, wherever you are, may 1 is a great day to solder up a few FX. Like every other day..

When I was a child in Kansas we used to make paper baskets and put flowers and candy in them and leave them on our friends poarches (I'm not making this up).  Seems like a million years/miles away.  8)

Seems like when I was older we did the pagan inspired May Pole Dance, wrapping pastel colored crape paper around a pole, prior to sacraficing our innocense as we grew into adults.

It was a beautiful may day in southwest minnesota.

Not a whole lot of love was in the air for me, though.  Alex did say she was going to cook me a cake next week and watch movies, which makes me immensly happy.
