test multiface

hi..I was a member of this forum but since this site is changing I have to re register..Now I have a problem..

Right know  I am testing my Multiface (METALFACE BUT USE 2N5088) from Runoffgroove site, but my guitar is "dead"..so I use a microphone (karaoke)..

When the power is on (from adaptor), the red led is on and I can hear the sound of my voice from the amp. But the pots didn't give any response. When the power is off the red led is off but I still can hear my voice from the amp.

When the the switch is not pushed I COULDN'T hear my voice (it's ON - OFF only)

I hope you understand my explaination..and give me some suggestion what's wrong with my multiface, I think I did it right  :?

I can usually tell if it's 'working' by touching the input connection to my thumb and recognize 'amping' and distortion...
 No substitute for guitar input for testing FF's though.
