I just made a pedal that require about 6 volts aprox.  Thing is, I run all of my pedals off of a regulated 9v power supply, and I would like to run this one off of it as well, so is there a way I can reduce the voltage running to this thing without changing the power supply?  Ive heard of people using resistors, but I've heard there are some issues with them.  Someone today was telling me about voltage regulators, like the LM723.  Has anyone had any experience with any of these?

I have an exact voltage dependant circuit, I started with a 10k pot between PS and circuit, which required tuning to the battery level, on a PS I guess it wouldn't.
I would try a regulator...dial it right to 6 v, and test for heat buildup..you'll probly be ok. Maybe the other regulator you mentioned is better for that...you can add a heat sink.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

If you have regulated 9v, then you are lucky, because you have enough voltage to run an adjustable regulator set up to give 6v, or a cheap 6v regulator itself, if you can find one. eg Digikey have 3 terminal 6v regulators.
