Does anyone have a source for ca3096 or part # of an equivalent npn/pnp transistor array? I want to build the Steiner VCF.

Is there a synth-oriented newsgroup out there?

Thanks.

Jason, this may be a tough find. Digi-Key has the ca3096 listed but it is not in stock http://www.digikey.com/ still, it's a reasonable price if it is still there. Also, Circuit Specialists carries a ca3046 - I'm not sure if this will work or not - http://www.web-tronics.com/ and Mouser carries the NTE replacemnt for the 3046. Good luck

Thanks AL!
ca3046 is a npn array, ca3096 has npn and pnp transistors in one package. I was hoping that someone would have one that they would wish to trade.

Also, I am just thinking aloud here:

Do Q3 and Q4 need to be matched in any way?

I have ca3086, could I use 2n3906 along with it?

I will breadboard the circuit, but I wanted to ask the forum first.
Thanks.

Q3 qnd Q4 don't need to be matched. However, I think R15 and R16 may need to be tweaked with different transistors for best performance.

Or Q3 and Q4 could be replaced with a non-inverting op amp.

Thanks Tim! I'll do both and let everyone know what I think.
