How do I go about this?  I mean, adding an expression pedal input should be as simple as wiring the three poles of a pot to a stereo jack, right?

I've done it with no problem when a pot has only two poles in use, but there's no way I can do it with three poles in use, because obviously the third pole of the stereo jack is the sleeve, which is automatically grounded by touching the pedal enclosure.

Anyone have ANY clue what I'm doing wrong here?  Is there like a 4 prong 1/4" jack I should be using?

Thanks in advance... you guys rock.

Schematic of the expression part?
If it's like a wah, or vol pot with three connections that need to be made...they need to be made.
I'm not sure I follow the question.
If the pot's used as a Variable Resistor, the two connections can be made via mono cable.

Poke around on smallbear and look for the instructions on isolating a jack from the case with bondo.

HI,

The jacks we use are from Mouser and are isolated from the case. Check the jacks page and you will see the one, with switched contacts

try using heat shrink tubing. its fast easy and cheap..also add a plastic waser on each side to eliminate problems
