Hello

What's the best way to get matched jfets for a phaser 90? Should I buy a bunch and count on luck, or is there a way to get them more closely matched?

(Sorry if my question is nonsense, I know absolutely nothing on jfet matching)

Not sure...check for the 'Jfet matching' in vero layouts...
GEO  Jfet matching fixture I think it's called.
I have one, matches Jfets for phasers...
You'l need a *Big batch of phaser fets'...I forget the part #'s, probably in the phaser schematics or one of the matching articles...
*Big....hmmI bought 100 Jfets, and got some realy nice matches picked out for a phase 90 and a 6 stage phaser too. I think I have a good match left over still from that batch for a phase 45...or another two closeley clustered VGsoff readings.
...ante up, roll the dice, and count your winnings !!!...of course the more units you start off with the greater the chances that 4 or so of them will fall into a closeley clustered set...so the more you buy and test the more the unusable ones become usable...it's just if enough of the 'others' fall closeley to it's reading.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

IMHO, I still find it hard to believe MXR was doing any part matching, more like they just used whatever came in the parts bin on the assembly line.

...just my opinion.
