I'm building the runoffgroove Phozer, and was wondering if two transistors can sub for an MPSA13? I was thinking this as the symbol for the MPSA13,Darlington I think, Is two connected NPN transistors. Anyone know if this is possible, and which transistors to use?

Check out the BaZZ articles at ROG, there's a darlington depicted there, and shows the wiring of two transistors to build a darlingtransistor.
Not sure what types of transistors are 'best' to build a 'DQ' from, I was told 2N5089's are too high a gain for it though.

Hey thanks!! Now I don't have to drive 5 miles to the nearest elec. Shop to get some MPSA13's. Thanks a bunch

Low noise, low gain are good specs for this.  The 2N3904 doesn't measure up too badly for this, tho I haven't used them myself.

PS Driving 5 miles for parts?  I'd love that luxury!!  I drive 25 miles to work and order my parts from 1000 miles away (and Small Bear is only 8000 miles away)
