Has anyone built a Son of Screamer?

Wondering how they worked out..thinking of making one as I just discovered my Barber Direct Drive is a variant of that circuit (no input or output buffer)

I don't trust my ears when it comes to describing the sound of distortion boxes but an a friend of mine who is considered one of the better local blues players compared one I built favourably to a TS-9.
