I have just finished building a McMeat up to the point where it looks like the "before putting it in a box" pictures at Pisotones (by Psst http://www.pisotones.com/Meatball/psst/meatball-psst.html). So no enclosure yet (can't afford one right now...just bought a TC Electronic Fireworx, but that's another story) and a lot of wires, jacks, pots, etc coming of the board, but guess what. It worked at the first try, and without a single problem too!!! :D

I was guessing I'd have a lot of hours of debugging on my hands but no. The thing is, I don't consider myself an experienced builder, I have only built an orange squeezer and a fuzz before the McMeat (both good working though). So in desperate want for a good envelope filter and more stompbox building experience I decided to raise the bar and try the Mcmeat. It took quite a lot of time but the time and patience invested paid off. I'm just very happy. So thank you all who made this possible, and special thanks to Moosapotamus, Joep and Psst!!

To me this is a really good sounding filter but as mentioned, the original colour control has a limited feel to it. I think I'll try the colour mod by markusw.

did you use the vactrol or a combo of leds and ldr's??, thanks

Gripp

I used the VTL5C3 vactrols.

Joep

Cool, good to hear it works ok. I think an Orange Squeezer is not more difficult than a McMeat, but because of the number of parts and off bouard wiring you need to work a bit more precise and concentrated.

I still need to look into the Colour pot. I pretty sure it works like the original, because I checked so many times. It might be a design "error" from the original one. Maybe the guru's can look into it (Mark Hammer, RG.... )

Bye,

Did the colour pot mod work for you? I am really interested, because if not i have to check my McMeat for bugs.

Hello!
No, haven't tried it yet but thanks for the heads up! I will try it after I get back from my vacation and hopefully I'll then have an enclosure for my Mcmeat. It so needs to be put in a box before I can seriously play with it.
Best!
