I'm looking for an effect...

What the best way to make a solid state amp have that sweet tube feel, with the option of that soft-clip distortion so wonderful in tube amps?

What's the difference between incompetence and indifference?  I don't know and I don't care!

see: runoffgroove.

Thunderchief, Prof. Tweed, English Channel, Supreaux

Check the soundclips - I believe he records them through a SS amp set to clean/no-EQ.

Jfet OD, or amp sim build, clips at ROG.
12AX7 build with 2 tube gain stages. I did it with wall warts.
Using the tube part of the Shaka Tube, Sounds very tubey to my ears... :D . and works exceptionally well with other transistor/OA builds.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Blue Magic, Peppermill... Easier to tackle first-off than the 3+ stage emulators at ROG...

Got to crank up my new Peppermill at practice yesterday. Comment from guitar chum, "Phil, have you put a new pickup on that guitar?"  :D

Yes. all of the previously mentioned circuits will do the job. If you want "in your face" harmonics, nothing so far equals the Meteor. It just flat out kills. IMHO
