Ok fellers.  I just won an auction from you know where.  And well here is all the new or NOS trannys that are in the lot plus some pulls that the guy didn't count as part of the lot below but he threw them in as well.  I have no idea what the pulls are but that they are the same as some of the ones below.  Any of you good fellers got any advice on what and where to stick any of these?  I bought the lot so I could get the 2N270 for a dead Fuzztone I got.  But how bought the others?   :D

2N1036 (1), 2N358 (2), 2N600 (3), 2N223 (9), 2N214 (11), TI-304 (112), 2N1059 (5), 2N657 (12), 2N553 (3), 2N1545 (1), 2N329A (14), 2N1160 (2), TI-175 (6), TA-1817 (2), 2N5457 (14), 2N190 (2), 2N335 (31), 2N519 (2), 2N915 (14), 2N1305 (2), 2N270 (4), 2N6152 (15), 2N499 (7), 2N1152 (22), 2N627 (3), 2N5460 (5), 2N705 (4), 2N417 (3), TI-C226B (6), and 2N1308 (1)

Here's a few tranny data base charts:

Sorry, I know I have more tranny links, but I don't have them organized in my favorites folders yet.

Sometimes, just entering their numbers in Mouser or Digikey will throw up a sub. Same for the manufacturers like TI or Fairchild. Once you get the specs, you can figure what the tranny's can be used for.

Also, NTE has a huge cross reference data base. They now have NTE Quick-Cross version 11.0 out for download. It's a cross-check program that lets you check for subs even if you're off line. You need to be online to reference the data sheets, however. The download is right on their home page.

For instance, here's the cross reference on your 2n270:

Upper range for gain is 80-90 hfe, good for a rangemaster or Q1 on a Fuzz Face.

Unknown Si Q's ..I stick in the Hfe meter of the DMM [different ways] till I find a reading I can use...like for a buffer stage, basically any NPN that measures Hfe [I don't remem measuring anything below 100hfe] goes in an NPN circuit.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Do either one of you know what those TI and TA jobs are all about?  I never heard of that designation.   :?:

The TI's are probably Texas Instruments, the numbers aren't coming up though. You could email TI and ask for data on all the TI trannys.
