Has anyone ever done a mod to the DOD Vibrothang?  or know where I can get a schematic?

THANKS!!

I'm relatively new at this circuit mod stuff, but I added some caps, tubes, and a new (old) speaker to my Fender Blues Jr. and I'm so happy with the results that I NEED something else to tinker with. Enter  DOD Vibrothang.

What I like: Speed, Depth, & Doppler (very cool) controls all function realistically and are versatile enough to get a wide range of sounds. some Leslie Like some not.

What I don't like:
It sucks most of the "tone" out of my rig! Highs. lows, mids you name it, and not just on the back side of the simulated horn spin.
It's got a bit too much hiss.
The "Image" control doesn't seem to add much. (yet!)
The On/Off Switch sucks.

If anyone has any suggestions on how I might approach solving some of these problems I sure would appreciate it. or maybe I'm the only person who owns one of these pedals.

Here's a pic of the circuit board.

4 green caps read 2A333J, 1 reads 2A103J (what does this mean?)
6 blue polorized caps read .22uF 50v, 2 black read 47uF 25v.

Thanks for any help!!!

It's hard to guess all those mods without the schematic...
About caps: 2A333J means that this cap is 33nF (look at 333: it means 33 and 3 zeroes... 33000pf = 33nF), and 2A103J means 10nF.

Looks to be a four stage OTA phaser, maybe a cleanup of the Small Stone design with a couple of tricks added. Take a picture of the back of the board, maybe someone will do the head-work to trace it out for you.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

I love the sound of it, great tremolo, but it's way too noisey (background hiss)  This is not just my unit, seems to be all of them, no?  The name is goofy as well
The only mod I would like is something to make it quiet.
