hey everyone,

just thought i'd show you all a picture of my newly completed build. the pedal is a marshall bluesbreaker, though i think by the simple look of the box, i may have to replace it with something like a big muff when i get around to building one.



i hope that picture works (it does in the preview at least)

thanks for all the inspiration guys, and i hope to get something funky and new for my new phase 45... i guess not being able to find hammond boxes is a good thing for some  :wink:

i got the metal for free of a friend who knows someone who works for a metal surplus kind of place  :?  ive known him for a while but only just found out about this - another one of my mates is making a guitar with that stuff on top, and although it being lighter than you'd think, that'd still make for one heavy ass guitar! (and he thinks my les paul is heavy)

the wooden parts are just cut up from the posts of my old bed, and just have clear lacquer overtop, and the base is just a piece of wood... ummm its dark brown and is pretty thin.. but i cant remember it's name.

the inside isn't shielded but i haven't had any big interference problems - though i was jamming with my drummer the other day, and i bent over to tweak the gain knob and started picking up multiple radio stations:) it was actually REALLY cool.. just a shame it's not reproducable all the time.

and by the way - does anyone have any suggestions as to how i could label the controls and put some kind of logo on the front? the metal is very smooth, and has the big bumps with the diamond plate.. paint is the only thing i could think of, and i was worried it'd just rub off..

That thing looks great! How about RF's?  Did you line the wood with metal foil?

For something as "heavy duty" as that, I'd get an engraver to make the lables on metal strips & BOLT the suckers on!!
Any metal supplier can get that plate stuff, it is standard for truck steps, industrial staircases etc.

that's a nice idea, i kinda thought of it before, but thought it would be impracticle.. but with encouragement from someone else, look out world! :twisted:

as for RF shielding, i haven't worried about it yet, hasn't bee a problem to me. but then again i havent used it beyond a rather loud band practise - hopefully it wont start playing up at a gig  :wink:

It's even cheaper if you use the pre-engraved ones that weren't used due to slight defects.  I've used these on my 'fido fuzz', 'bonzo tremolo' and 'gnasher flanger'  :lol:
