Anybody mod a Tech 21 Double Drive?

It's my main OD (at least for this week  :lol: ) because of the good sounds and versatility, but I'm not 100% happy.  So if anyone has experience with this, I'd love to hear it.

This is a factory one, not DIY, so I'm especially interested in anyone who has worked on one, because it appears to be a pain to get at the board, but any changes to the stick schemo are also welcome.

Specifically, I'm thinking about (a) expanding the range of the tone control (too dark except from 2-3 o'clock), (b) cutting noise at the higher cascaded settings, maybe adding (c) a mid-boost switch, a la Blue Magic, and (d) a loop, a la the Guv'nor.

The sound can also be a little constricted at higher gains--anybody messed with this (the diodes on the A/B channel?)?  Can it be run at 16-18v, and would this help?  Also, would converting to true bypass really make much difference?  Does the TL072 input buffer really matter, either in bypass or effect mode?
