I'm looking to build one to give me a nice Clapton Marshall tone and a nice Van Halen early sound.

Which one would be better?

Thanks.

Hi Craig,
Just built the BSIAB II and its a monster ! have not heard a thunderchief but can highly recommend the BSIAB II  for serious rock/metal  duties !
Good luck,
Marty.

I have heard both sound clips and like them both. In particular, the AC-DC part in BSIAB II is amazing.

I wonder if someone has tried the Thunderchief with the proposed tone stack?

I tried to listen to the bsiab II at GGG site but the sound is messed up-wont play right. I wanna build it also but id like a sample--anyone know of a link for that?

I wonder if someone has tried the Thunderchief with the proposed tone stack?[/quote]   I have the Thunderchief on a breadboard. I built it "as is" to make sure it functioned properly, it did. Then I added the 250uF bypass cap to Q 1 and the tonestack with the prescribed values except the 250K audio taper pot. I had to use linear taper. The tonestack IMO is quite responsive. I won't be home for a few days to continue work on it but so far it sounds great. I also added a 100K trimpot for biasing the added buffer before the tonestack. :)
