It's was a switcher for computer monitors, but I bought it for the absurdly large amount of poles on the rotary switch. Now I've got a nifty little enclosure that could use something in it. Only stipulations are it has to be last, or near last, in chain as it sits upon the amp, as well as I already have a Rangemaster. Is it screaming a Dimension C? One knob would be great, but more than one is passable.

Ready, Go!

Attenuator.  Get a schematic and some nice big wirewound power resistors.

RANGEMASTER!  The originals came in a box somewhat like that...

Man Gibson,I was thinking same thing, kinda reminds me of an RM

I like the attenuator idea. How about reverb, talk box or theremin?

I once bought the exact same box at a flea market to put a power supply in it.

First things first, tell us more about the amp!  Seems obviously Marshall plexi-ish.  Home built?

Woah, lets more replies than I expected! Let's take a look!

Attenuator is a fantastic idea. I think if it fits, it's currently at the top of what to stuff inside that thing. Last time I looked at attenuators, the AirBrake seemed to by the top DIY choice. I did some quick research and the big ol ohmite resistors are a bit too long to fit in the enclosure, but I'll look around and see if there are other sized 25ohm 100W resistors out there. Do you have any recommended attenuators?

For sure it does! Unfortunately I've got a Rangemaster on board already. I do like it though, and would definitely be going in it if I didn't have one already!

Interesting. Are you suggesting a passive lowpass filter, or something more along the lines of an Orange preamp?

This a good idea as well. I didn't think I'd be so torn when I couldn't even think of anything to put in it, you guys have great ideas.

Marshall indeed! The faceplate is plexi, but I'm not sure if JTM45's are considered 'plexi's'. Love the amp. KT66 power tubes. I think an attenuator would suit it real nice. I'll take a picture of it when I get home. The cab is by SourMash.

I think I'll see what I can dig up on attenuators. Cheers guys.

So, it's a Marshall-made JTM45?  Vintage or reissue?  Re-covered?  (No logo or holes for one).  What kind of KT-66s?

Nah, it's DIY JTM45. Classic Tone transformers. KT-66's are JJ. Played through a 2x12 with a WGS Green Beret (Greenback) on the left and WGS Reaper (Celestion G12H30) on the right in 16ohm configuration. Head and Cab done by Sour Mash guitar cabs in Florida. They did a very job, highly recommended, and a good price too.

Georgeous!! The white coily cord makes a nice accent too. Looks like it should be in an art gallery.

Now.... what were we talking about? Oh yeah, enclosure. ;D

I had a similar box that I used for a 70.7 volt line transformer with a switch for the various taps.  That gave me a unit I could use as an output transformer for some antique battery-operated radios.  An additional switch pole could have made it push-pull using the common as one plate, a wattage as another plate and 4 x that wattage as the centre tap.  If you do tube experiments with low power stages, this is ideal.  For example, 1 watt is a 5000 ohm output transformer, 2 watts is 2500 ohm, 1/2 watt is 10000 ohm etc.

We do have some small tube amplifiers on this forum and this could be an output test box for tubes running at oddball voltages.

tonight, we ride

I use those boxes as often as I can find them.

They're sturdy as hell and have a good amount of space in them so I like to use them for double circuits (two distortions/overdrives/overdrive + boost/etc.), especially if it's something that I'm going to stomp on a lot.

Keeping in mind that you want it last in the chain, it'd be the perfect size for an AirBrake, or a Reverb that you could slap to get some cool effects.

Or just put 4 different pairs of input/output buffers in it and use the rotary switch to change between them to sample different things for your I/O.
