OK, this is kind of a newbie question, but I'm putting a BOSS pedal into a different box, and for the moment have decided to just replace the BOSS switch with an SPDT Momentary switch, until I've gotten all the materials to make a Millenium Bypass.  My question is, of the 3 poles on the this switch, which ones do I use?  Which ones are the NO (Normal Open) contacts, and which one should be Input and which one should be Output?  Can anybody help me with this one?  Thanks!

first off, you need to know if your boss has what is called a "momentary Switch, if it do, you gotta go in and rewire the circuit board to where the circuit is on all the time, then you can wire it to your switch,
there is an older thread here only a week or so ago that touched on everything you need to know about changeing your switch out.
Aron helped someone else out on thier boss pedal to do the same mod.

oh, yeah, the BOSS pedal I'm working with does use a momentary switch.  The one I bought, according to the guy at Small Bear and most everyone I've talked to on this site, is supposed to be a direct replacement.  The thread you're talking about was probably me, but that was working w/ a DPDT.  I quickley realized, however, that I didn't have all the materials to make that work, so for the time being I'm going to use this SPDT instead.  Anyway, it's supposed to work without any rewiring, I was just hoping somebody might be able to tell me which of the 3 poles should be the the Input/ Output (I was told to use the NO, or Normal Open. contacts, but I'm not sure if that's the 2 outer poles or the middle one and one other).  Anyway, anybody with any advice on this, please let me know.  Thanks!!!

If you go to "Links" on this page, and then on Guitar Effects Projects (JD Sleep's site), I believe it has all that wiring infomation, and if it doesn't GEO does. Both of them show diagrams of the various ways of wiring up bypasses.

Use a multimeter to test the continuity between contacts.  What's that, you don't have a multimeter?  Get one!  They're invaluable for troulbeshooting circuits!

You know, you didn't need to get the SPDT momentary - you probably could have used the DPDT, just wire it as a fake SPST momentary.  If the lugs on one side are ABC, you connect A and C together, and use that as one side, and B is the other.  The time it takes to flip between A and C is the "momentary" action.

spdt as you're looking at the bottom.......

X -------- effect input (spliced with the input jack)
X -------- output
X -------- effect output

of course you won't have the LED though, until you do the dpdt millenium. i don't know boss pedals but i'm wondering how easy it will be to find the effect input?

Hey everybody, just wanted say thanks for the advice and to let you know that I did buy a multimeter a few days ago, and I tested everything out and I did in fact have the switch hooked up correctly in the first place.  I finally got the LED to light up with the switch, too, and the reason it wasn't working before looks to be something even weirder than I would have guessed...........
so I'm starting a new thread to try to figure it out (I'm not sure, but I think I have an idea what it may be).
