Amp Power Cable Replacement

I'm replacing the power cable on an amp i picked up because its thoroughly frayed, any potential hazards to be looking for while soldering in the new one? What about filter caps?

If you can stay clear of the filter caps you won't have a problem. If you're worried about them, discharge them before you do anything else.

As for the lead itself. Make sure you replace it with a suitably specified cable; Some power cables are cheap and only designed to pass small currents. Ensure you redo any insulation over the terminals and properly refit any grommets or strain relief. But most importantly, make sure you wire it correctly!

i'm replacing the hardwired in cable with a standard mains jack w/ground, like you might get from a computer case, so I figure any of those computer cables will do, i've got a bunch.
