Has anybody built a FF with clipping diodes added? with desirable of undesirable results . . ?
uh oh

VERY nice (see the "Great Cheddar" at www.geofex.com).

isnt the lava rim 2 basically a FF with diodes?

yeah, added em right before the volume conrol in series with a 10k pot to ground.

it adds a bit of fuzz, but tames the "meaness" of the fuzz face a bit. kind of smooths it out even though there is more clipping. i guess it's kind of a compression that goes on - increasing the diode clipping lowers the output volume (but of course there is plenty to spare). it's usefull.

the 10k pot should really be a 5k pot since that's the only usable part. linear. it dials in just the right amount.

its an easy mod, i'd say do it.

I believe the 70 uses one diode to ground after the FF section tapped from signal path.
