I'm planning to have the effects loop from my amp also go through my true bypass loop pedal, so I can assign an effect before or after the preamp. I've read that could introduce ground loops to the chain. How should I handle this? Is there a way to isolate the grounds to avoid this problem?

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Disconnect the ground from the jack that goes to the effects loop "SEND". It will still be grounded via the effects in the chain, but only at the "RETURN" socket.

And, building a Spyder is just a good idea, regardless of ground loop concerns!

I should have mentioned that I'm currently using a Furman power conditioner. I think I'll try the ground lift idea with a switch. Thanks.

Oh, one more thing. Does it matter if I lift the ground at the effect send or the input to the box? If I lift it at the box input, I wouldn't have to lift it for each loop (6). Thanks.

probably wouldn't matter too much.
