Eschew paradigm obfuscation

Brilliant idea.  A stompbox where you can download whatever effect you want into it and assign any parameter to the knobs.  Shame it doesn't look like your average DIY job!  Hello surface mount city:

This is pretty cool.  I love that it is open source.  I'd love to come up with some effect algorithms.

Sorry, I had to do it...

On another note, I have an open source effects thing (audigy2 dsp) shame i dunno how to program effects for it though. For anyone else running a live/audigy/audigy2 you need kx drivers to get anything decent out of the dsp, but its not too bad. Can do completely custom signal paths.

have a listen to this crazy thing i just recorded (just one guitar in there). The audigy2 dsp is doing everything to make that glitchy kinda sound (input is just a guitar with a bit of distortion).

I have a live.  Tried the kx drivers, they screwed my system up.

Anyway, I use Guitar FX Pro 2.6.  It can stream using WDM.  This causes a clean signal to go over the effects a little though.

I wonder if this is going to be the next big thing in effects?  Being able to purchase a "blank" traditional-looking pedal and downloading an effect (or even a plugin?) into it from a computer would be amazing.  Companies could release new effects online for folks to purchase and download into their pedals, thus eliminating the cost of having to manufacture and distribute a whole new tangible pedal for every new effect.

Did you completely uninstall every bit of the creative drivers? I haven't noticed anyone else having severe problems with installing kx drivers, IMO they are far better coded than the bloated creative ones.

I found guitar fx pro rather limited, the clean signal is due to creative drivers if i remember correctly. They have to be set up so recording is enabled but the recording doesn't get outputted to the speaker or something like that. Takes a fair bit of stuffing around but i remember getting it working properly once ages ago. Another ok option for diy dsp is program your own VST plugins with an ASIO host of some sort (eg Cubase)

Could be. Seems just another step from what yamaha is doing with the magicstomp (plug magicstomp into computer and do custom patches and stuff on computer).

the chameleon is another commercial product that allows for effects and synth programs to be uploaded...
