octavia transformer question

I have the mouser transformer and see 2 leads on the primary side no problem. and 3 on the other .I picked the outside leads to attach ,is that correct? also the bands on the germanium diodes do they point to the primary side of the transformer or the outside of the board? as far as the transformer is concerned, how should I have tested the leads and what would I have been looking for to determine the correct leads to use??

what transformer did you use? on the side of the transformer with 3 pins the middle one should be cut or rest on the board(not touching any of the other leads) The diode bands should be facing the outside of the board.
