Hi,
I want to start using my ocsillator and spectrum programs. can I run the output of a box strait to the sound card or sould I use some kind of isolation, like a 1:1 transformer?

Cheers

You can connect it straight to your sound card, just like if you were recording your guitar.

Gilles,
I've played around with the dazyweb sw/scope stuff a little bit. I would build the voltage divider probe if you plan on poking around in a circuit with greater than a few volts (amps etc.).

looks like the page is down at the moment  :(

(dazyweb had a soundcard tips page)

If I remember right its a simple 10x volatage divider. They had a schem for a transistor driven iso box that looked pretty simple as well

-you can also use an old tape deck as an isolation box (I think it's suggested  on one of the freeware scope pages.  (fry the tapedeck not the sound card)

...pretty fun stuff!

....a,       ...Ok,            ...never mind, forget it, you would understand anyway.

I'll check the site again when it will show more than a blank page...

Thanks. I am still interested in that subject.

I was checking tonight for PIC circuits and how to use them to make a scope with a PC.

But the simpler solutions are often the best.
