Hi,

I finished my Boss SD-1 copy this week. I built it using the schematic from Fuzz Central as well as a few of the mods from that page.
Sounds quite nice, although it pronounces some mid frequencies the distortion sound natural. But however there's not that much gain.
Cool distortion for some older 60s / 70s stuff or if you just want a different tone.

Here is a link to a picture of the pedal, might be interresting for some of you because of the do-it-yourself enclosure (made of plastic-like "macrolon").

Very cool! Did you use true bypass or did you use the bypass on that schematic? Also, I don't know the exact mods but the Zakk Wylde OD is based on the SD-1 but has more gain and more lows. Might be what you're after. Let me/us know if you find the exact mods/schematic.

That looks great !  nice job.
You should have a fair amount of gain from that version, the original is a bit "tame" for me, I use a 1N4002 and a 3mm LED in my mod, sounds quite nice, a bit more "tubey" sounding.

I used the Millenium 2 bypass. It works, but somehow there a little effect in it: The LED gets brighter/fades in quite slowly (not that slow, but you notice it). Looks like a cool effect, but however I don't know where this "effect" comes from. I used 1N914 diodes and built the bypass using the schematic at Geofx. Does someone have an idea what this effect comes from?

And does anyone have a schematic of that Zakk Wylde mod or can tell me what is changed? Sounds really like what I am searching for (at least for overdrive).

QuoteNice looking pedal
Erm, cheeky time, where did you get the enclosure ? My Tube Reamer needs a good home ...

The enclosure is all selfmade. It's made by cutting the single sides of the enclosure out of this "makrolon" called stuff (a plexiglass like material), gluing them together and then rounding up the edges.

I have to check these diodes out...
