I have a broken sennheiser md-421 and it looks like there is a problem with the coil. The capsule in this thing is gigantic. Theres a small coil about the actual diaphram of the capsule that looks like it came loose. One side was kind of wrapped around the postive(blue) post. and the other end was just loose. Does this go to the positive and negative? Please dont give advice if you dont know what your talking about. I know how a coil in a mic works, but im not sure what this thing is up here.

I think it should go to the pos and neg, yes. I also think it's a miracle if you ever get this mic working again ;) I've had a couple die on me, and the membranes are practically as expensive as the mic...Restoring an old one is, to put it mildly, difficult and troublesome.

The guys at this forum:

build diy mics (and pro audio stuff) and might be able to help you out.

thanks that pretty much convinces me to get rid of it
